123. Koryak Area Sled Dog Tour

ITINERARY

Koryak PeopleDay 1. Arrival in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Transfer from the airport to your hotel. City tour with a visit to the Museum of Regional Studies and some historical monuments. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 2.A flight by airplane to Palana village, the capital of the Koryak autonomous area. Transfer from Palana's airport to the hotel. Accommodation in a hotel. Visiting a historical museum, acquaintance with the history and culture of the natives, the Koryaks.

Day 3. Acquaintance with the drivers and their team. Preparation for the sled dog trip, checking the necessary equipment. The instruction concerning the behavior in a sled. A trial sled dog trip to the coast of the Okhotsk Sea. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 4. The beginning of the sled dog expedition to wild nature regions of Koryak area. The distance is about 50 km on winter tundra, forest and frozen Palana River bed. Overnight in the trapper's cabins.

Day 5. A visit to reindeer herders. Acquaintance with a common life and traditions of nomadic
Koryaks. A day trip distance of 30 km. Overnight at the trapper's cabin.

Day 6. A day trip distance of 40 km. Visiting a natural monument of Koryak area - Palanskoye Lake. Overnight in hunter's cabin on the bank of the lake. Russian banya (sauna).

Day 7. A trip to the national monument Palanskiye hot-springs (a day trip of 40 km). In the evening, bathing in the hot-springs. Overnight in basic Russian log cabins.

Day 8. Relaxation at Palana hot-springs area. Cross-country skiing around the outskirts of Palana hot-springs Overnight in basic Russian log cabins .
Days 9-11. Going back to Palana. All the overnights are in the hunter's cabins (a distance of 130 km long)

Day 12. Flight back to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

Day 13. This is a day of rest and leisure to be spent anyway you might, except that this day may be used to re-schedule previously described events and excursion due to weather cancellations A reserve day in a case of bad weather.

Day 14. Visiting the art-shop. Buying souvenirs reminding Kamchatka. Transfer from your hotel to the airport. Depart for home.
